Banded Kingfisher (Lacedo pulchella)
These are part of the “larger” kingfisher family with an average size of
between 22 to 23 cm. These are really colourful kingfishers with both
male and female very distinct from one another. I have found when they
are perched the crown and nape feathers are raised and lowered giving
them a really lovely appearance. Apparently this means they are alarmed.

Habitat : Broadleaved evergreen and mixed deciduous jungle, bamboo,
often away from water so says the book!
