NP 914-6 Two Liter, OEM - Type 901 / 38 - Serial *6404553*
1970 Porsche 914-6, VIN 914.043.0938 - Engine #: 6404553
This is the engine that came out of my previous factory 1970 914-6 car, the one I totalled in 1980 https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/151763163 and that is me, posing a few days after the accident https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/151763155 - Later in 1983, I gave the damaged chassis to Dennis at Aase Bros https://pbase.com/image/153649102 and ever since, I've often wondered if the 914-6 is rolling around somewhere. Would be nice to reunite the engine to the car, if the car was saved or the VIN transfered.
Buschen was finally able to split my old 914-6 long-block apart https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/153405810, it took over 12 hours of labor due to seized and rusted piston rings and cast iron cylinders, only a couple of cylinders survived. We didn't find anything special; a non-counterweighted crank, stock T heads and no 911 E cams.
Is anyone looking for a factory 914-6 crankcase? This one is for sale. If interested, contact me via email at AJSERRANO at MSN dot COM - Thx!~

According to Glenn Stazak, based on the engine serial of this crankcase * 6404553 *, I should expect the VIN number of my crashed factory 914-6 to be in the range between 914.043.0925 and 914.043.1025
I will have to find the VIN plate, and I have it, now wondering how close to the chassis number Glenn really is. ; )
