Many 914-6 GT front hoods were lost and damaged beyond repair when crews failed to clip and secure the 4-hood pins during the hectic stops in the pits. When the race car drove off, it didn't take long before the front hood flew open often times breaking at the hinges, or nearly folding in half blocking the windshield. Talk about impairing the driver's vision!
