Here is one other crazy idea I've had for a while. In order to provide a more comfortable heated environment in the cockpit for the driver and navigator during cold-weather racing, the Porsche engineers responsible for the development of the 914-6 GT Rally cars modified a set of 914-6 GT road racing headers and in-cased them in sheet metal. The idea was simple, to recreate the same heat-exchangers used by the street 914-6 cars https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/54417627
I decided to do the same, but rather than using a very rare set of OEM, NOS 914-6 GT racing headers as originally done by the factory, instead, I'm using a pair of stainless steel reproduction GT headers https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/127066275 and having those parts modified patterned as the rally exhaust. When finished, they will look something like this https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/25268183 and hopefully providing sufficient heat to the cabin of my car during the cold California weather. LOL
This photo gallery will highlight the progress of this sub-project. More to follow...
