NP 2.2 Steel Racing Rods, Matched and Nitrated - Set 1 (SOLD 2017)

Over the years I sold several sets of these NOS 2.2 factory-matched nitrated steel con-rods, this IS my very last NOS set.

Our current plan at the moment is to use my 10/10 Under 906 racing crankshaft https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/150753807 with this set of steel rods. https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/35910361. In order to facilitate this, a new set of +10 connecting rod bearings was ordered, but because a 906 racing crank has radius rod journals https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/150753773, the new set of rod bearings require chamfering. As always, Ollie's to the rescue! Ollie's will be chamfering the new set of rod bearings so those can properly clear the radius corners of the 906 rod journals https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/134287117.

My other option is to use the 'standard/standard' 906 crank I have https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/165169344 with one set of newly coated factory original '906 thrust rod bearings'. Along with the Porsche 906 Titanium rods, it will finish nicely the core of the 2.0 liter 906 engine build.

In case you're wondering why we can't use a factory 906 thrust rod bearing set is because Porsche only made those special thrust rod bearings available in only one size, 'standard/standard'. Once a 906 crankshaft is ground below factory 'standard' specs, +oversize rod bearings are required to make up the material loss difference when grinding a 906 crank. In my case, this is exactly what happened with one of the two 906 cranks I have. Photos of the 906 engine build will be posted when those are available.

"CHAMFER" a term commonly used in mechanical and manufacturing engineering. Special tools such as chamfer mills and chamfer planes are available. In tile work, or furniture such as counters or table tops, an edge or arris that has been eased by rounding instead of chamfering is called a bullnose.
