(09/28/2015) On my recent trip while attending the Rennsport Reunion V at Laguna Seca, on my way south back to Los Angeles, I stopped in South SanFran to pay Gus Pfeister a visit at Pacific Fuel Injection (PFI) https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/161536742. . Most of you know Gus as the "Guru" of the BOSCH MFI pumps here in the U.S. As always, Gus was very accommodating, giving me another tour of the facilities and also allowing me the opportunity to snap a few new interesting photos. This was not my first trip to his shop. For most of us, some of these pictures will be never before seen photos.

To keep up with the higher performance demands of the new RSR MFI racing pumps and engines, BOSCH felt that a redesign of the common street fuel injector was also in order. With the introduction of the 73' RSR and even possibly the ST (which I have yet to confirm), BOSCH optimized the racing injector with a new 'floating guided-needle' design. Additionally, the RSR injectors also have a distinctly different spray pattern with a narrower stream. Contrary to what you may have heard... Porsche did not hand-pick common 911 street fuel injectors from production parts bins to group them as 'matched sets' and simply stamp those as "RSR" parts. The RSR injectors in fact have a unique RSR p/n (DV0460) https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/161536697. Further proof, here is a copy of the page from the Porsche factory RSR parts manual https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/96814684 specifically calling out the BOSCH DV-0460 RSR injector for that model race car. Physically, the RSR racing injectors "by-design" are internally very different than the 911 street part, evident by this photo https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/161536636. That said, Porsche, or BOSCH may have matched and hand-selected 'RSR racing injectors' to grouped them as sets, but certainly not by choosing the best samples of common 911 street injectors hand-picked from production parts bins. That is a fallacy when it comes to 911 RSR racing fuel injectors.
