The BOSCH 3-Pin CDI Rev. Limiters is a programmable device designed to be used in 4/6/8 cylinder engine applications https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/166953448. These units have a built-in adjustable 'Pot" https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/166953449 that allows the user to set a 'cut-off' point to the ignition at a specified RPM thus protecting the engine from over-revving. I believe that the 3-Pin BOSCH units were the predecessors to the later 73' and 74' Porsche 911 RSR BOSCH 8-Pin Programmable Rev. Limiters. Additionally, the 3-Pin CDI Rev Limiter box may have been first produced for the 71-72 MY 911 ST competition motors. Regardless, it is a welcome addition to any high-strung, twin-ignition and very expensive today vintage race motor.
