...UPDATE (02/05/2005) Per an email I received from Ken Richardson ken@engexperts.com - Here is what Ken was able to confirm.

"70' Porsche 914-6, sn 914.043.0116 - Hey Armando, I called to have a PPI done on the black car on your site and was told by the inspecting shop that it had the 914/4 engine mounts, steering column and rust problems. I suspect that it was a real 6 with serious problems that someone cobled together with -4 parts. In any event, I don't think it is worthy of your web site. Just my 2 cents. Ken 914@cammatic.com "

Buyer Beware! I personally believe that the opposite of what Ken indicated happened. The serial number was potentially changed from a 4 cyl. to a 6 cyl. DISCLAIMER: I have not personally verified this information and only recommend any interested buyer to simply "Do Your Homework".

...APRIL 4, 2004... THE ASKING PRICE WAS $27,000, SALE STATUS UNKNOWN... This factory(?) 914-6 is being marketed as a "M471" 914-6 GT "non-factory built car". I am currently waiting for more photos of the front and rear trunk lids as the ad claims to have the "balsa wood-fiberglass" trunk lids. It will be interesting to see. Note the racing bucket seats, not sure if they really are "Scheel" buckets or a reproduction there of. Aside from those "mufflers", the 914-6 looks very nice in black.

Andy, thank you for the post. Much appreciated. I sent an original factory 914-6 to the wrecking yard myself in March 1980 when I fell asleep at the wheel and totaled it. I plan to post the photos I have of the car in the near future. I also heard that the VIN of my old 914-6 was used to rebadge another 914 chassis and now can't help but wonder who has it and where is at... Here is that totaled 914-6 chassis number 914.043.0938. Mr. Stazak, do you have any records of the above serial number? ; )

the original car 914.043.0116 was once owned by one of my fellow members on 914world.com. it was hit hard in an accident (lost about two feet off it's nose) and the car was stripped of all parts and the shell went to the boneyard! anything out there today claiming to be 914.043.0116 must be a re-badged car using the original VIN numbers and maybe some of the original parts. but most certainly NOT the original body ...

"...converted to GT specs in the early 90's" You have to be kidding me! What was the seller thinking "GT Specs" are? Steel braided lines inside the cockpit, funky pipes sticking out 2 feet passed the rear trunk, wrong engine, wrong gauges, not a period correct roll-bar, wrong seats, rails and brakes, and I'll stop here as the only thing one could consider GT would be the fender flares (as long as those are factory steel). What an idiot!

This car was investigated by 914club.com members. This what they found. "This is the exact text from the listed in 12/1991 Panorama: blt from a wrecked orig six (#9140430116) & solid four (#4702907919). Motor strong, structurally solid, runs & drives great, needs some work to be perfect, incl wrecked six chassis w/orig serial numbers & many extra parts price $7000.00 note: there is no mention of GT or even race car." Do a search on 914club.com for that VIN for more info.

Hello Ken and thank you for your post. I was told the 914 chassis serial number was #914.043.0116 which indicates a factory "914-6" and not a "914" or conversion. Question; Did you see the 914 in person and verified the chassis serial number? If so, I will then have to remove this 914 from this gallery as I don't track sales of 914-4s or 914-4s converted to 6-cylinder cars. I would hate to remove this 914 from this gallery if in fact it is a factory 914-6. Thanks again Ken!

I was interested in this car until I found out more. It seems to be a 914-4 that was combined with a -6. The outside appearance is fantastic. BUT, I was told there are serious rust problems, a 914-4 steering column, 914-4 engine mounts, engine not running, etc., etc., etc. I had the chance to buy at $13,000 and walked away. Was told that $8,000 might be a fair price considering all the problems.
