VIN number 914.043.1543 appeared in the classified for-sale section of the April 1980 issue of Panorama https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/161458198. In the description of the ad https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/161448737 the seller makes no mention of the 914-6 having wider steel fender flares, or any other Porsche racing parts or factory upgrades. The description of the vehicle suggests a narrow body car with 5.5x15 inch wheels. Fast forward 23 years to 2003 and we see this https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/126259104

Please see below, a copy of a 2013 email from Porsche to further validate the original configuration of the car as it left the factory.

The photographs in this gallery of the 914-6 were taken during a visit to Morespeed in 2003. The information provided at the time of the visit indicated Kerry Morse supposedly as the owner of the chassis. Kerry may be able to provide additional details about the history of this car and who started the conversion project to GT specs. The more probable scenario is that it was Kerry himself, but that would only be a logical assumption.
