Porsche 911R & 911 S/T Racing Exhaust Megaphones...

Part Number 901.111.035.00 and 901.111.036.00

These are some very rare Porsche exhaust parts that I purchased a few years back. At the time, I knew they were something special but had failed to find any historical or period photos with them in use. With the help of Claudius Zeiler and Jeff Hines, I was finally able to obtain the vital reference information I was looking for to identify these parts (please see the photos below).

By the way, believe it or not, these megaphones are dimensionally the same as the 'header extensions' used between the headers and the racing muffler of a 914-6 GT. Look here https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/25079346 (the 911 megaphone being only slightly longer).

Since I own this early 911 racing exhasut system, it will now be very easy for me to reproduce the factory 914-6 GT "megaphone extension" which slips directly into the GT muffler (the header extension connects between the GT Headers and the GT Rally Muffler).

I purchased these parts years ago from Carl Thompson (the keeper of the old Vasek Polak racing inventory) ; )

I'm sorry to say but I will not let my set go for less than $3,500, then again, I suppose $2,500 is not a bad price either considering that I originally only paid $300 for one set. Oops! BTW, I have two sets not just one. ; )

Out of curiosity, what is the first name of the buyer at the $2,100 price? I only ask because I sent several of my contacts over to you. Maybe it was one of my customers that ended purchasing your parts, who knows...

Anyway Jay, how did you get your pipes? This is such a small world. One last comment, those exhaust megaphones were used by the 911R and the 911 S/T, did you know that?

Hello Armando,

Thanks you very much for your answer. I contacted the Porsche Classic Werk 1, which performs the classic restorations. I also send the pictures to Porsche Classic and Porsche confirmed, that this type of exhaust was used for the Sportkit II 911 cars. Unfortunatelly Porsche couldn´t find pictures.

The part numbers are;
901 111 035 00 left megaphone
901 111 036 00 right megaphone
901 111 153 00 mounting carrier

You can find the part list at Information Regarding Porsche vehicles used for Sports Porposes Edition 4-67. I have attached 2 pages out of it. I will let you know, if I can find some more information.

I was told pretty much the same thing you indicated but I'm still looking for some documentary evidence via a Porsche parts list, factory photos, etc. so that I can permanently update the information. These pieces are very rare and I was already offered $2,000 USD for them. Not sure what to do and if I should sell them since my 2 other projects are a 914-6 GT and a 911 RSR (neither uses this exhaust).
