For comparison purposes, I have included two photos of the more common ignition switches, these are more easily available today, but are not the correct ignition switches used by the Porsche factory in the 914-6 GT.

There are three distinct differences;

(1) the plastic knob in these switches have a "wrinkled/textured" finish https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/24004144 as opposed to the "smooth shiny black" https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/136566771 of the original ignition switches used by the 914-6 GT.

(2) In 1970, the Porsche factory used a "Push-On/Quick-Disconnect" type connectors and NOT the "screw-on" type.

(3) the knurled screw-on nut is 'plastic' in these switches and not 'aluminum'. You can easily see the differences in these photos.

Obviously, these switches will work just as well as the factory originals and I just wanted to point out these features. Now you know what to look for if 'originality' is more important to you. I'm hoping this is helpful to some. By the way, the same applies to the 911 RSR and several other Porsche race cars...
