The real deal, an original VDO 10K tachometer and NOT a conversion, never installed and with the corect date code (9.70) for the 914-6 GT Porsche model race cars. The instrucment needs a bit of cleaning, a new bezel and lubrication. The back of the instrument indicates 30000 Imp (Impulses) https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/134241000 which means it was originally a 10K rpm instrument and not a conversion https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/47215258. The cans with the factory stamped '24000 impulses' indicates it was an original 8,000 tach, not a 10K. This photo shows a reproduction sample of a 10K tach but using an original 8k can as the basis for the conversion https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/47215067

Just because the face of the VDO instrument shows the correct p/n 901.741.302.06 https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/134240982 it doesn't mean it is an 'original' 10K tachometer*. Try modifying the back of the can to show the stamped 30000 Impressions, now that's just a bit more difficult. lol
