Busy, crowded, growing rapidly, Shenzhen is the shopping mecca for many tourists. Unfortunately, it now costs around $50 US just to cross the border for a day! Too much, I think, unless you plan on doing mondo shopping.

Sorry, but I didn't really like Shenzhen. The people are way too pushy, it's too filthy, and it costs $50US for a one-day visa to go there. It's just not worth it, so I don't want to go back.

Well, that's what it looked like in November 2003 when I took the photos. Haven't been back since and have no desire to return.
