Eklutna is a tiny village about 30 minutes from Anchorage, Alaska. The most interesting part of the village is the cemetery, that has a unique characteristics of both Athabaskan Native tradition combined with the unique Russian Orthodox Christianity. The colorful spirit houses were built by an Athabaskan family after the person’s death. The graves of the Athabaskan people are marked not only with their traditional spirit houses, but also with an Orthodox Christian Cross.
