Bayahibe is a small fishing village on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic. I used it as a base to go scuba diving. One of the nice dive sites is in a National Park called Catalina Island, which is about an hour by boat from Bayahibe. We dove the wall on one side of the island and at a fantastic dive site known as The Aquarium on the other. We took a short surface interval on the island itself between dives. Many cruise ships and resorts offer excursions to Catalina Island. Thankfully, we left just as the day excursions were starting to arrive.
