This is the first picture ever taken with my new 100 mm Canon macro lens. I had this shot in mind when I bought the lens two weeks before leaving for California. On our third day in Napa I got up early and was out driving along the main road between vineyards looking for a spot to photograph the grapes without climbing over fences or being chased by dogs. I spotted my opportunity in Oakville along an access road. I only had to carry my equipment across a muddy drainage ditch to reach this row of vines. Non-photographers just don't understand what makes perfectly good sense to us. I brought back over 2,300 shots from our California trip and I still feel that were many shots that I didn't get because it would have inconvenienced the other members of our traveling party. Gives me something to look forward to on future trips.
