Sycamore

January 17

Pegram, TN

BEST in ORIGINAL

The bleached white trunk of the Platanus occidentalis is
an eye-catcher in the winter forest.

I was moved to try the Ansel Adams Extreme Black & White
conversion that I have used mostly with mountain b&w land-
scapes. It really popped the whites in the tree nicely.

ANSEL ADAMS EXTREME B&W METHOD

Note: Use a Channel Mixer Adjusment Layer (check the monochrome
box then slide RGB sliders to +160, +190 and -200 respectively.
I fine tuned this image by sliding the Green back to +170).

Others paticipating in the B&W JANUARY CHALLENGE for the 17th are HERE.

Very nice image. Good observation on my image btw. I also use your channels technique. It looks like the tree on the left is flashed.

What happened to the lower right corner?
Looks a bit funny on my screen.
Awesome shot and post-process.

Leo Charette17-Jan-2007 21:49
Great diagonal clouds further enhanced by the angle of the tree... it's as though the tree were spewing them out to the sky.

Guest 17-Jan-2007 20:29
I like this a lot, Scott
Dramatic
I was surprised to see that it was shot at 1/1000 sec
I thought maybe you had slowed things down to pick up the motion in the clouds
Guest 17-Jan-2007 20:19
