Veronia gigantea

Hidden Lake State Park

Hot, dry dog days of summer in Tennessee mean the Asters start to dominate
the remaining perennials. Veronia gigantea (Tall Ironweed) can be found in
pastures, meadows or sometimes open woods late July into early fall. They
usually grow to be about 4'-7' tall with clusters of blooms at the top.
