Cornus kousa

May 18

Home

Kousa Dogwood is a later blooming variety with pointed white bracts (they are not petals). The fruit is much larger than that of Cornus florida (common White Flowering Dogwood) and looks like a strawberry. The blooms usually set about 6 weeks later than common Dogwood.

ALTERNATE: (a little spider I found hiding on a bloom)

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Nice one. The open petals look a bit like a propeller.

Nice, Scott! I like the unusual perspective you've chosen to shoot this from. Thanks for the daily botany lesson :)

Beautifully done. You're educating me on all these botanical names. (Is this dogwood?)
