March Monochrome V

Kingston Springs, TN

For "broken" or "heavy weather" for the March Monochromatic Challenge.
This old farm house is built like a tank. It has survived many
of the better tests weather has thrown at it. The grand Oaks
that have anchored it to the hill have not fared quite so well.

That was one helluva storm that went through the country. Last I heard it was 40 dead! I hope you and yours fared well. Nice perspective and story mood conveyed in this one! V

Guest 05-Mar-2012 21:00
what a pity, what a beautifull shot, what a strong rendering! V
Jeff Lobaugh05-Mar-2012 20:39
Unfortunately it's going to take a long time to clean up all of the damage from this past week.
Colin Storey05-Mar-2012 18:51
Fantastic mono image of this scene, great light and shadows.
Chris05-Mar-2012 18:13
The tones really show the stark results of the storm.
Faye White05-Mar-2012 17:58
They don't build 'em like they used to... shame to lose all those beautiful trees, though.
Walter Otto Koenig05-Mar-2012 15:49
The old farmhouse makes a great case for building houses properly, instead of stapling them together out of plywood. Strong documentary shot Scott.
Janet Donnelly05-Mar-2012 13:28
At first look I thought this scene had been in the path of one of the recent, devistating tornados. This is an astounding image with great detail. And wow, that sky is something else! Bravo!
Barbara Heide05-Mar-2012 12:59
excellent documentary... that looks disastrous...
Stephanie05-Mar-2012 10:17
Wow!!! I'm amazed the house didn't sustain damage!!!
Superb and strong image in B&W!!!
Janice Dunn05-Mar-2012 09:49
Looks like you lost a few trees in the storms.
Sheila05-Mar-2012 09:36
Always very sad to see big trees down.
Excellent in crisp B&W.

My goodness...how lucky it escaped this devastating event....it's looking like a cyclone " may " form over our coast...we were there yesterday, but came home under the threat of flooding...ahhhhh, what's going on with us all!!
Ann...05-Mar-2012 07:29
What a shame to see trees brought down like this. By the look of the clouds there is more heavy weather ahead. Keep safe!
wernere0105-Mar-2012 06:38
Outstanding image. You really can imagine the power of that storm. BV
Yvonne05-Mar-2012 05:20
Sad to see, the tree takes years to reach this size, then along comes a tornado
and that's it!
Guest 05-Mar-2012 03:38
A bit of this in my neighborhood too from recent winds..good shot.... nice tones.
Laryl05-Mar-2012 03:22
great detail in this clear crisp b/w.. so sad when nature gets so distructive
Guest 05-Mar-2012 03:22
Very Intense.
carol j. phipps05-Mar-2012 03:21
Outstanding perspective for this powerful portrait of the times.
Margot W05-Mar-2012 03:15
It is surprising how some trees hold up in big winds and then another one comes and they fail.
Nice choice in B/W. That still looks like an unsettled sky.
Dawn McKenzie-Wykes05-Mar-2012 03:13
Yes B&W are showing this devastation well...great image.
s_barbour05-Mar-2012 02:14
Oh goodness, such destruction! Excellent image Scott.
Monochrome works very well with this! V
Coleen Perilloux Landry05-Mar-2012 02:06
Oh my. Black and white is perfect for this destruction.
