Blur SP
SP Friday

Home

A little extra for my month of blur. I arrived home
yesterday, went around to let Oakley out of the back
of the truck, walked to the side near the stone wall
to close the window and was greeted by our "friend"
and resident snake coiled up in striking position.
Most of you know I am fond of snakes but this fella
has become too frequent a sighting when the kids are
playing outside. I proceeded to grab my shotgun, a
long pole and was able to get close enough to knock
him down into the driveway and then (after he latched
on to the net on the pole) over to the grass where he
made his final attempt to scurry off. I'm sad but a
bit relieved that I won't be looking for him daily.

The PaD SP for today...

Nice SP :)
An hour ago I noticed a snake when he was trying to get into my rabbit's cage. I went home to get my broom (unfortunately I don’t have a shotgun). But meanwhile the snake vanished. I will not sleep well until I see this snake dead.

You shot this snake twice Scott ;o) "I proceeded to grab my shotgun" just sounds so alien to us Brits, you have to pass a stringent psychological profile here and have an amazingly good reason for wanting one - unless of course you're in Burke's landed gentry and then you get one by birth-right!!!V

OMG, don't take this the wrong way, but I'm glad that one went down the hill instead of up! That would have given me a heart attack. What kind is it?

Saw a dead snake yesterday on the trail, an innocent Pacific Gopher snake that someone probably though was a rattler.
Nicki Thurgar12-Jun-2009 19:11
Good grief!! I would have done the same, although snakes don't worry me... my kids come first!
Ian York12-Jun-2009 19:03
thats one heck of a splat
Cindi Smith12-Jun-2009 18:38
It looks like a copperhead.....and poisonous. Glad he won't be bugging you anymore!
Scott Browne12-Jun-2009 18:21
Now make a belt out of him.
Kevin Chester12-Jun-2009 18:06

Hey, nice belt. Sorry. Sounds like you just did what was necessary. Pretty good shot, too :o)

I can't even look.

Holy Moly!! Powerful shot(s)!! I, too, am an advocate of co-existing with wildlife (including snakes), but with children and pets around, sometimes we need to listen to those protective instincts that God granted us, which then allows us to avoid unnecessary tragedy.

oh no, it's my beloved pet snake "Flathead" :\
