Home

Woodland perennial found in moist, rich and usually
acidic soils (in Tennessee from the Western Highland
Rim eastward). The evergreen basal leaves give way
to new leaves after the plant blooms Feb-April. The
5-12 sepals (not petals) are usually white but rarely
pale lavender. They grow 6" tall with hairy stalks.
