Self-Sacrifice
Veterans Day
November 11

Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery

For those who have given their all, those serving somewhere
out there today and the families who have lived through the
fear and often loss. Thank you. Words are never enough. It
is the hope of a better tomorrow that keeps us marching on,
believing that sacrifices will lead to change, that the world
will be a better place, that we can learn from our mistakes
instead of living them over and over and that we can be as
ONE SOME FINE DAY.

Sunday Bloody Sunday
U2 (Album: WAR)

I can't believe the news today,
I can't close my eyes and make it go away.
How long, how long must we sing this song?
How long? Tonight we can be as one.
Broken bottles under children's feet,
Bodies strewn across a dead end street,
But I won't heed the battle call,
It puts my back up, puts my back up against the wall.

Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.

And the battle's just begun,
There's many lost, but tell me who has won?
The trenches dug within our hearts,
And mothers, children, brothers, sisters torn apart.

Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.

How long, how long must we sing this song?
How long, Tonight we can be as one.
Tonight, tonight.

Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.

Wipe the tears from your eyes,
Wipe your tears away,
Wipe your blood shot eyes.

Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.

And it's true we are immune.
When fact is fiction and T.V. is reality,
And today the millions cry,
We eat and drink while tomorrow they die.
The real battle just begun.
To claim the victory Jesus won,
On a Sunday bloody Sunday,
Sunday bloody Sunday.

great perspective, like the lack of colors for the graveyard with the blue sky yonder. Excellent shot, and tribute. v

Powerful, Scott. So well done.

Love the desaturation and uber wide perspective. There is little like a national cemetery to leave one feeling humbled by those who serve this nation with such selflessness.

really quite a beautiful scene - sad, of course. I love the perspective here... and the name of one fallen soldier being revealed.
I went to the cemetary yesterday to try to get a photo for the newspaper - they have a whole military section with flags, etc. The cemetary was closed for the winter already.

The curve of the horizon evokes this of the earth, and we must remember that the entire world is covered with these gravestones.
