Week 21

("17th Update" FROM JENNIFER & BILLY on 27 November 2012)

Thankful

It has a been a special week of Thanksgiving! We've spent time to together laughing, crying and reflecting. Although the delay for transplant was a setback, it came with its own blessing. We were able to celebrate Thanksgiving at home, together. It was a beautiful day and we made special memories. Family and friends provided turkey and all the trimmings, so our tummies were happy for days.

This is a difficult time. We hope you never know how much this hurts. We remain strong and won't let our faith waiver, but we fear the days ahead. Aiden has been so amazing, he's been happy and "healthy" throughout. However, the next several months will challenge even his strength and that breaks our hearts. Next time this year we WILL be in a better place, but each day will be a struggle for our sweet baby boy.

We went to clinic today to check Aiden's counts. Our prayers were answered, counts are up! A sigh of relief, we had been so worried. We signed our final paperwork authorizing the transplant and asked the few questions we still had. We learned today we will NOT have an opportunity on Christmas for the four of us to be together. Ashlynn will still join us Christmas morning, but we will have to take turns stepping out while she's there. Rules are strict for a reason and we want what is best for Aiden's safety. Still, this was hard news to hear. We will be able to bring a small artificial tree into the room. This was good news, our tree is our biggest family tradition. Although it will be different, we are doing our best to make this a happy time.

Scott joined us today, so he could document with pictures another piece of the puzzle that we call life. Unfortunately, we have to close the doors on Friday, so it may be a long time before his pictures help us tell the story. We will continue to update weekly and send pictures, but we will miss the talent of his tender eye.

A special thank you to our family, friends and partners in prayer. We love you and could not do this without you.

For now, please keep praying!
