Piotta-Ritom: Steepest Funicular
When the reservoir lake was built on the Alp Piora in 1921, the
construction workers and other personell needed a train to get there.
With a maximum gradient of 878 promille it is
one of the steepest aerial cable cars in the world. The blue-red cars seem
to ascend vertically. The funicular takes one to a lovely area full of
interesting hikes and it has a great beginning and end: talk about vertical
take-off!
