The neo-Romanesque Notre Dame Cathedral, built between 1877 and 1883 brick is one of the most important colonial building in the city and the Centre of the Catholic Church in Vietnam. Notre Dame is located at the northern end of Dong Khoi. Fairs in English are held every Sunday. A statue of the Virgin Mary stands on the previous course of the Paris Commune. This church is called also Notre-Dame of the East.
