Der Affentempel Swayambunath wird von Hindus und Buddhisten verehrt. Jeden Morgen, vor Sonnenaufgang, pilgern Hunderte Menschen die 365 Stufen den Hügel am Rande von Kathmandu hinauf, vorbei an der vergoldeten Vajra (tibetisch: Dorje) und zwei Löwen, die den Eingang bewachen.

Swayambhunath is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, west of Kathmandu city. It is also known as the Monkey Temple as there are holy monkeys living in parts of the temple in the north-west.
