Lt Alexander Herbert Rutledge, France, 1917

4th Battalion Canadian Machine Gun Corp, 12th Machine Gun Coy.

In the early morning of October 26th, 1917 positioning the machine guns for the first battle of Passchendaele, Alexander was killed by a shell right beside my grandfather, his longtime friend. My grandfather survived this tragic incident,and the war, never forgetting.
