Tree Abuse: 40-50 year old Live Oak trees butchered behind the Chevron Station on Miami Lakes Drive in Miami Lakes, FL 33014

7375 Miami Lakes Drive, Town of Miami Lakes

Current property owner (sold in January 2006 for $1.5 million) Alex Lakes, Inc.
Yes, these trees had some broken branches in their canopies like every other tree in South Florida but someone cheaped out by hiring a butcher instead of an arborist. Rather than cut off just the damaged branches they took the easier and faster way out by illegally hatracking, and permanently damaging, these old Live Oaks. Pathetic! These were magnificent old Live Oaks that will never recover their previous beauty due to this mutilation. Hello Miami-Dade County DERM, how much in fines is this worthy of?

What ever happened to this tree? And did the owner receive a fine?

I'm in a much smaller community than you, but we try harder than this to teach and protect our trees which provide so much cool shade and look marvelous. It's proven that trees keep the heat down inside cities by shading the concrete by at least 8 to 9 degrees. It's also proven that improper pruning can kill a tree. www.treesaregood.com or check with your local Forestry service.
