My mum ( Christine Glover) was a swimming teacher at the YMCA for most of the 1980s. We spent so much time there - I loved the roof garden especially - so sad that the Y that I remember from my childhood is now so different. Happy days.

I spent half my childhood there in the YMCA in the 1960s and 1970s. I live that old building. There tore the building down twice and rebuilt taller ones. Now I live half way around the world in the United States by way of Canada. The world was different back then.

1958/59 - My Mum used to take me to the YMCA most Saturday lunchtime for a 7Up and a mock-turtle sandwich.

I spent a nice, quiet night at the YMCA in July 1965. Having signed off a vessel I needed a place to stay till my flight left for Manila the next day. I remember they were a bit sceptical at first upon hearing that I was a seaman.. Thank you for posting the photo!

Returned to HK just under two years ago and stayed at the YMCA. It was terrific, like a good hotel, with the best central spot and view of the harbour. MTR under the building and fab views from every angle. Would highly recommend it.

The Royal Mail van is interesting. Never in my life did I realise HK had something like this. I am starting to wonder what sorts of vehicles the post office used to deliver mail...

My memory of the YMCA is a milk shake that I had.

Was born & lived in HK from 1954-1964. My mother worked in Dynasty (in the Peninsula Hotel) next door to the 'Y'. This photo reminds me of my where I learned to swim and many afternoons swimming laps and playing table tennis.

Left HK in 1972 and remember many a happy time hopping on the Star Ferry to go to YMCA on a Sat morn (by myself) couldn't do it now. Thank you for photo.
