Mycena purpureofusca

Icicle Creek Road, near Leavenworth, Washington

Purple Edge Bonnet.
This handsome conical-capped Mycena species reaches about an inch in width and grows on decaying conifer wood, cones or debris. It is darker purple in the center, fading to lilac towards the margins. The stems are tough and fibrous, with whitish hairs at the base. The gills have purple edges, which makes it easy to separate from look-alike species. It is widely distributed across the northern tier of the US and Canada and Europe. Its edibility is unknown.
