A friend of mine asked if I knew what to do with an old turntable and I said for him to give it to me and I would fix it or dump it for him. Well, this was a "fix it". It needed a belt which was missing, some lubrication and the missing tone arm counterweight replaced. Luckily I was able to find the counterweight on Ebay and the belt from a local electronics supply house. So for $65 I have another turntable, this one being a Pioneer PL-50. I have no idea what cartridge it has in it, but it does not have much wear from what I could tell looking at it with a magnifying eye loupe. The wooden case matches the KEF speakers near it, as well as the wooden stand it sits on. It needed to have the tonearm/cartridge balanced (2grams), so I thought it would make a photo op for the few of you that have balanced your gear before. The turntable has auto-return and a very slow cue, and is a joy to listen to my old vinyl with and use.
