As our veterinarian appointment drew near, I enjoyed the sun on my face. Shortly after this photo was taken, we went inside and I wobbled my way to the rug in mom's bathroom and collapsed on my side. Mom and dad talked to me and stroked my coat as the clock advanced to the appointed time.
I passed without pain. Dr. Van first gave me an injection to relax me. After that took effect, the final injection went into a vein in my leg. In moments I was gone. Mom and dad then drove my remains to the pet crematorium.
Dad says I was stoic, and tough, and yes, incredibly strong-willed and determined all the way to the end. My presence filled our house.
It will take awhile to adjust to life without me. But it was time to go.
Now I AM FREE.
