My Ride in 1964

... bought this white Corvette new in '64 for about $3000 (a king's ransom in those days) ... a year later I was in Vietnam and the car basically sat for a year. When I returned, I traded it in on a Pontiac Catalina (proof I must've suffered brain damage while in Vietnam).

It didn't have air-conditioning as that was an expensive option ... had dark blue leather interior ... 5-speed manual stick shift.

Indeed you would have made quite a few bucks on it if you had kept it, but at least you got to enjoy it new.
But I'm sure it didn't have a 5 speed transmission in it 8-)

This is definitely one of those "What was I thinking?" episodes. But, for one shining moment, it was all yours.

Gorgeous car Tom and an excellent shot of it. You could have loaned it to me too, but since I was only 7, I probably wouldn't have been able to drive it. But I sure would have loved to show it to all my friends.

Larry, all you needed to do was ask ...

Amazing and sad love story. You could have loaned it to me
while you were in Nam.

I bought and stupidly sold a '64 1/2 Mustang at that time. I have a 2010 Corvette now, which eases the pain. V

A cool ride, Tom. Would be worth a lot right now! V
