1966 Batmobile from 60s TV show Batman re-creation

Russo & Steele Auction, Monterey, CA

This Batmobile was built on a 1986 C4 Chevy Corvette chassis to re-create the iconic look of the original George Barris Batmobile from the Batman TV show that aired from 1966-68 starring Adam West and Burt Ward. The original George Barris one off creation is valued at over $2,000,000 and was built on a 1954 Ford Futura Prototpe later fitted with a Ford Galaxie 390 V8. Here's great details with video about this amazing re-creation: http://www.gothamgarage.net/forums/showthread.php?p=2554#post2554

I must take exception to the term 'young and dumbs' being used to describe people our age back then. We had to carry around life's lessons and knowledge in our HEADS (and cars like this only stimulated our imaginations!), rather than on our cellphones. This is why it is such a 'tragedy' when a young person's phone goes missing nowadays - his entire intelligence is there and he may have to start thinking for himself!

Cool Car !! I'm not sure if this car was the one but a Batmobile car loaded on an enclosed trailer stopped at a burger joint in LaGrange Georgia. The driver wanted $ 100.00 to get the car out of the truck and drive it around the burger joint. Course like young and dumb teens everyone around pitched in a dollar here, dollar there and raised the money. Sure Nuff the driver unloaded it and drove around the burger joint. A real thrill for us young and dumbs back then. I think this happened either 1966 or 1967. Brought back memories.
