The Rosette Nebula

This is an image of NGC 2237, commonly called the Rosette Nebula. Actually this image includes only part of the nebula, as it is too large to fit in the frame. Search for "rosette nebula" on the web to find many more images of this beautiful object.

The stretched image produced in Iris software was saved in the native Photoshop format, then edited in Photoshop. Level and Curve adjustments were made, along with a little tweaking of the white balance and a mild noise reduction. Total time spent in Photoshop was not more than 15 minutes, thanks to the power of Iris software for preliminary astrophotography-specific image processing.

HI,

Thanks for thee images and the explanations about dark flats, lights etc. Can you point to a good tutorial on Iris please ? I am glad I came around to this page because it looks like the Photoshop is only if you want to publish stuff and can be avoided by starters such as us.
