My problem is that 'S' won't tighten down on 'A'? The set screw is loose but it's like the 'S' is too small?

My manfrotto 393/3421 got stuck to my tripod and this was the solution to the removal of the manfrotto 393 or manfrotto 3421 gimbal head from the tripod. Posting this here so that others can use it. I didn't find any help when I googled a solution for my problem. Hope this helps other people who have the same problem.
