Radnor Lake by Mack Prichard

Mack S. Prichard, Tennessee State Parks Naturalist emeritus, former head of the Division of Archaeology for the State of Tennessee, was one of the most active and tireless promoters for the saving of Radnor Lake. Beginning in the mid and late 1960s, through the 1970s and beyond, Mack was in on the efforts to purchase the property, which being so close to Nashville and in the Metropolitan area, was in imminent danger of being developed. Radnor Lake was eventually purchased by the State, through much effort by many players like Senator Douglas Henry and others illustrated here. Radnor went on to become one of the first State Natural Areas, a special designation for preserving the natural conditions and beauty of the unique area.
