Awesome photos !!.. Can you tell me whether you changed the background of "flora" set to get dark background. Or did you shoot in a dark room with one light on flower?
Branden Green 21-Jun-2008 22:16
Your work is great and I was wondering whether you were selling any prints? (sorry about the last message, I forgot to include my email address)

Your very helpful and appreciated reply to my 'help please' post in the Forum naturally drew me to your albums. Wow! I immediately looked thru your flower captures (a subject I am interested in myself) and commented. I have already added you to my favourites and look forward to learning more by enjoying your work.
Kindest regards
Ted

I noticed that you have several pictures of Gilles Villeneuve. Do you have more information, i.e. which event and when they were taken?

I would greatly appreciate, I am a great fan of Gilles, being present in Montreal when he won his first Grand Prix in 78. I have over B&W pictures of the event, several of them of Gilles and some vintage cars like the Johny Player Special, the Saudi car sponsored by Ben Laden's father and more. The pictures are not great but they bring back a lot of good memories of an era when the driver made a significant difference in the result of the race unlike today!

I would greatly appreciate if you have the information, they are great looking pictures!

Thank you

Paul

It's hard to put an adjective (or even several) to accurate depict your pictures. So I will just say what others have said. Good stuff!
Guest 13-Jun-2006 16:23

The oceanside time exposures are wonderful, and very instructional as well. Thanks for sharing. I got this the blurred water fog effect in one shot years ago but the stationary elements did not work so I never persued it. Thanks to you I now have new ideas.

Your photos are fan-tas-tic !
Gorgeous. Very nice.
The ones with the 100mm macro are amazingly sharp and bright.
I do not have an account in pbase but in SmugMug thought I like to navigate here.
Congratulations

I'm curious as to how you got such a deep black background... Night shots? Set up background, or just deep shadows in your garden. I can ocassionally get a deep black background, but it's tough. I really enjoy your work and I hope to learn from it for my own!

Thanks everyone!

John,
I don't use any noise reduction in camera because the process takes too long. Thankfully images come out clean from the Mark II. Just a few hot pixels that can be spotted easily in Photoshop. Not much post processing either, just the normal levels adjustment and sharpening. I may enhance the colours a bit in some images.
John Carman13-Dec-2005 19:51
Gemm,
Love your Dovercourt Gallery. How are you able to keep the noise in check on these long exposures? Using the noise reduction setting on the Mark II? What kind of post processing? THANKS john c

It was such a pleasure to visit your galleries. You are very talented and get my vote. Thanks for sharing your beautiful images.

Thanks Michael.

Yes, I tend to leave it on Mode 2. I've only tried the IS lens on 2 events, but it seems to work for me. If you can justify the cost, then I'd definitely go for the IS version.
Mike Leuzinger 12-Aug-2005 00:49
Hi Gemm,

First, great photos!

Second, I have a quick question for ya. For the motorsports panning shots, did you use Mode 2 IS with the 70-200, or did you have IS turned off? I do a lot of motorsports photography, and am having a tough time debating on the 70-200 non-IS versus the 70-200 IS.

Cheers,
Mike
