The name change of Pretoria was not done, but just carried out without adhearing to the legal procedures as such the name was not changed, and till such time the minister of arts and culture Palo Jordan gives the go ahead.

I think your photographs are splendid. The first one of the Union Buildings has the caption 'Union Buildings, Pretoria, 1901'. In the foreground is the WW1 memorial, which is confusing. If you want to refer to the date of the Union Buildings it would be better to do so below a photograph of the building without the memorial. And, of course, it would also be desirable to get the date of the building right. Herbert Baker began the design in 1909 and it was constructed in 1910.

I recently went for course in South Africa and had the opportunity to Visit Pretoria and one image that realy caught my eye and captured my mind is the Union building. Its amazing that such a thing is in Africa

what has not changed is people like Guest who always like to see everything through a racist microscope. There is crime in SA and its a big problem, but the main reason why there are no pictures of those areas, is because few black people can afford to buy a camera to go take pictures of where they live. the people who live here would rather spend that sort of money to stay alive due to poverty.

Slovo, although things have changed in south africa, there's a good reason you don't find many photos of ridgeville, Mamelodi, Eersterust, Mabopane, Soshanguve, Hammanskraal and Temba on the web. Simply put, those who took those photos (a) either didn't live to post them, or (b) their camera's were stolen.

Well done! However, your photos still show the "historically whites-only" area. I wish you could also cover places like Atteridgeville, Mamelodi, Eersterust, Mabopane, Soshanguve, Hammanskraal and Temba. We need to show some integration of the place we live in. Tswaing Crater, for instance, is located in the northern part of the City of Tshwane. Your initiative is good but you might need to highlight other areas that make the bigger City of Tshwane. Remember Pretoria is a component of the bigger City of Tshwane just like Westminster in the City of London.

Thank you for these lovely pictures. I have been away from SA for 5 years and never did get to take my American hubby to see much of Pretoria, but we did get to the Monument. Your pictures are really good. I am also interested to see the news about Pretoria's name change and also the change in design of the Rand!! Thank you, I just don't get news from home!!
