With the bridge at Maslenica out Dalmatia was cut in half. An emergency ferry shuttle re-connected the road and made the drive possible. The lineup to get on the ferry would get out of hand, sometimes a day's wait. The problem was made worse by people who didn't think they should have to wait. You'd be sitting there in your car and a constant line of guys was passing you and going to the head of the line. I remember one older guy from Zadar standing in the middle of the road with a huge rock, threatening anybody who tried to jump the line. The ticket was cheap.
