No probs, shirty sapper. In fact, I did the TA YOs course for the RE at Chattenden in 1976, but thought I'd join the infantry instead. Roy H

You could have got a hair cut and polished your boots, even if only for one day of the year!

p.s I'm a sapper officer and am only having a pop in response to your comment on another photo about having a sangar to build. You know as well as I do that Sappers lead where you guys follow.

You're right! I'll flop it shortly. Got to find the original first...

James, I've been looking for ages at this picture trying to work out what's wrong. Penny finally dropped, it's the wrong way round, badge over right eye, rifle in left arm, pistol on left hip, sun in the NW in the afternoon. Sorry.

Ptarmigan,
Remind me to buy you a pint next time you see me.

Hopefully it's there now. Many thanks. It's great to see these pictures.
It's amazing how they evoke the feel of the place (and the smell!).
If you wish, I'll dig out my diary and add comments to the ones I recognise.

There was an entertaining Sgt James Mason attached to PInfo. But I'm the non-military American photographer who spent a lot of time in Vitez. I can send you a big file of the photo if you like. I'll need your email address. I'm putting together a collection of photos for the PWO museum. - James Mason, Alaska, USA

James, I had no idea you'd taken this picture of me on Imphal Day 1993. Do you mind if I take a copy for personal use? Were you the Sgt with James Myles in PInfo?
I can picture your face, if so.
Regards,
Roy Hunter Major (as was)

Ptarmigan: I would agree with that. He was one of several PWO officers who was really impressive.

The Guy is Roy Hunter. An Company Commander in the Yorkshire Regiment who took over from Bob Stewart's Cheshires. A truly excellent officer.
