A Remnant of the Giants

A stump of an old giant slowly decays surrounded by trees that are merely big.
It might have been felled and hauled to Crescent Beach, then sent to San Francisco.
It may have been milled locally and used in a cabin along the lakes.
Those who would know are the people standing on the giant logs
and staring back at us in historical photographs from another era.
