Cordyline Lemons and roses

At home in the rose garden.

The cordyline (cabbage palm) is a huge tree that often flowers in early spring. It grows
on the edge of the pathway to the gazebo and has a miniature climbing rose attached to
the trunk. All the irrigation of the rose garden suits this tree very well. Alongside
a huge cedar tree frames this view on on the left is one of the only fruit trees we
still grow a Meyer lemon. The other fruit tree is a mulberry and that's down the
bottom of Dick's vegetable garden.

We lost our last lemon tree...one more year of drought than it could take. You should take a photo of the magazine page to show people how this looked in the beginning, Von.

Wonderful composition with the huge tree trunk as a star. Love the details on the bark and the leaves of the rose winding around it. V!
