Cherryville bushfire

Our view of the smoke from the bushfire raging in the hills north of us.
Photo taken from the rose garden... a smoky night for us, and the fire
is still burning - so far one house and one shed burnt but no people deaths
but one can imagine a few koalas, snakes and other wildlife being trapped.

We've had a heatwave, strong hot dry changeable winds which pushed the fire one direction NE
and another direction NW, quite a dangerous fire, and very late in the season.

We have a similar district name, Cherry Gardens, but Cherryville is a half hour drive north
for us through winding hills roads - the strong winds are from the north, so you can imagine
we were keeping an eagle eye on this fire.

Much drama and danger in this shot! Hope you are fine and out of danger!

Oh Yvonne I didn't realise you were this close, they say the fires are going to be worse today. Hoping they are wrong and you get a good downpour. Thinking of you all. Please keep safe.

Watching and worrying about you...imagine this in May !! Half an hour is not long in terms of fires spreading. Stay safe what ever you do!!

Good luck with the winds. I wondered how you were placed in relation to it. Hopefully the front coming from W.A. will bring heavy rain and put it out without just changing the wind direction.

An impressive and sobering image. I feel so sad for all creatures caught in the fire, human and wildlife. I hope it does not reach you, but can imagine you will be uneasy until it is contained.
