Crested Pigeon

Ocyphaps lophotes

All these years I though these were top knot pigeons but I'm wrong, according to Wikipedia, this
is the Crested Pigeon, commonly known as the Top Notch Pigeon. It is the only member of the
genus Ocyphaps. There are only two Australian pigeon species that possess an erect crest, the
Crested Pigeon and the spinifex Pigeon, the Crested being the larger of the two species.

The Pigeons are right down near the bottom of the peck order to the seed dish, hence the
photo taken on the ground, they clean up any debris the others discard. We have quite a
large family of them, I've counted 9 at one time vacuuming the ground under the dish.
