Just to clarify, "Dance of the Reed Pipes" (or also known as "Dance of the Reed Flutes") is a different piece all together from "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy", however it's all from The Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky.

At one time in the 1980s and 1990s, the Red Room only played "Dance of the Reed Pipes" instead of "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy". They seemed to always mention that it played "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" despite this. I don't know why it did this. perhaps, it was a mistake when they arranged the music for it originally. It can be heard playing "Dance of the Reed Pipes" on the no longer available House on the Rock Mikado CD. Some of the tuned percussion you see on display in this music room seemed to have originally worked only when it played "Dance of the Reed Flutes". I know for a fact that the tubular chimes in the far back corner played at the end of the piece originally but I never seen them or the marimbas work during the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy arrangement(the one it now only plays). They must have redone this ensemble within the late 1990s to early 2000s, made this correction and left some of the tuned percussion out. I always thought this was strange.
