This is easily my favorite Duck shot for so many reasons. That scene required a lot of adjustments for lighting wich was against me in the sense that I am in a seriously backlit position. The subject itself was photographed millions of times and most pictures look the same. I myself shot thousands of those with success but no originality. In that sequence, I had many very good images but that one was by far the best one since the light did hit at the right place, the focus is perfect (thx mainly to the NIKON D2H fantastic ability to focus correctly), the duck wing's position is very good (a fraction of second later and the shot is a complete waste) as you can see the ey thru the feathers. Setting up for this requires a good knowledge of the camera's ability track focus and a fast frame per second acquisition (8 FPS here). Interesting fact, it was shot with a Nikon AF-S 70-200 VR wich is only 200mm. Luckily I was close to the subject. All in all, good preparation and a little luck.
