Pomona Fairgrounds

The "IN LINE" license plate makes reference to the inline or straight eight engines that powered Buick automobiles frm the late thirties through the 1952 model year. In 1953 Buick celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a new Overhead Valve V-8 in Roadmaster and Super series, but the entry level Specials held on for one more year with the inline straight eight. The Buick in Ken's photo is a 1947 or 1948 model. This design was introduced as a 1942 model just before the outbreak of World War II and was carried over in the post war years immediately after the war. Note the distinctive two-tone paint treatment that extends in a narrow strip down the hood of the car.

Know of a car just like this in North Bay Ontario. Looks identical. What would this car be valued at.

1947 BUICK SUPER SEDANETTE 248 CU.IN. STRAIGHT MOTOR, LOOKS LIKE THE SHORTER FRONT FENDERS ROADMASTERS WERE LONGER FOR THE 320 CU.IN. STRAIGHT MOTOR. THE 1947 HOOD EMBLEM IS ALL METAL WHERE THE 1948 INSERT IS PLASTIC IN THE CENTER.
