Two boys ran to my car and help me when they saw I parked my car outside their house...
They were very helpful and easy-going...
They agreed upon my request for their pictures without hesitation.
What a view into the slice of life in Native American culture. Having traveled throughout the southwest, the Native Americans, outside the ones in the tourist industry, usually shy away from cameras.
You have given these boys a greater sense of integrity and presence by correcting the tilt, at least to a degree. The use of a tilt is OK when disorientation is the point of the picture. But otherwise you are using form for the sake of form, and run the risk accidentally disorienting the viewer, as you orginally did in this case.
Lovely photo! They deserve a copy of this for their friendliness :) One thing, the V at the head of the tallest boy makes the whole picture a little bit funny. For them maybe disturbing.
What a wonderful portrait, Xin -- their response to your camera is so straigtforward and honest. What did tilting the camera accompish except to make the image slightly disorienting? Where you trying to create a diagonal for the sake of form? If so, recrop the image as a straightforward vertical -- the image will have much more integrity.
